1. Check Compatibility and Condition

  • Inspect the Valve and Pipeline: Before installation, inspect the butterfly valve and the pipeline for any damage or foreign materials. Ensure that the valve size, pressure rating, and connection type match the specifications of the pipeline.
  • Verify Flow Direction: Some butterfly valves are unidirectional. Check the flow direction marking to install the valve correctly in the direction of flow.

2. Pipe Preparation

  • Clean the Pipes: Make sure that the pipeline is clean and free of any debris, welding slag, or other obstructions that may damage the valve or hinder its function.

  • Allow Enough Space for Operation: Ensure there is enough space around the valve for the handle or actuator to operate fully without obstruction.
  • Consider Access for Maintenance: Leave enough clearance around the valve for periodic maintenance, inspection, and easy removal if replacement is required.

  • Pressure and Leak Testing: Once installed, perform a leak test under operating conditions to verify the integrity of the valve and connections. Confirm that there are no leaks at the flange connections and that the valve opens and closes smoothly.

  • Environmental Protection: For outdoor or corrosive environments, consider using protective coatings or enclosures on the valve to enhance durability and performance.
