Precautions for Valve Installation

Here are the precautions for installing a butterfly valve:

  1. Installation Direction: Ensure the installation direction of the butterfly valve matches the flow direction of the medium. There is usually a marking indicating the correct flow direction.
  2. Seal Inspection: Check the sealing surface and sealing ring of the butterfly valve before installation to prevent leakage.
  3. Installation Position: The butterfly valve should ideally be installed on a horizontal pipeline, with the valve stem pointing upwards to ensure flexible operation. If installed on a vertical pipeline, special attention should be paid to the effect of medium flow on the valve.
  4. Pipe Cleaning: Clean the pipeline before installation, ensuring there are no debris, welding slag, or other contaminants that could affect the sealing performance of the butterfly valve.
  5. Installation Space: Ensure there is enough space around the butterfly valve for operation and maintenance, facilitating future inspections and replacements.
  6. Tightening Check: After installation, ensure all fasteners such as bolts are properly tightened, but avoid overtightening, which could affect the valve body or the sealing ring’s functionality.
  7. Pressure Testing: After installation, conduct appropriate pressure tests to check the valve’s sealing performance and operation.
  8. Operation Method: Confirm that the butterfly valve’s operation method (manual, electric, pneumatic) matches the control system and ensure smooth operation.

Following these precautions will help ensure the proper function and long-term use of the butterfly valve.
